마태복음 23:23-26 (Matthew 23:23-26)

23   화 있을진저

외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여

너희가

박하와 회향과 근채의 십일조는 드리되

율법의 더 중한 바 정의와 긍휼과 믿음은 버렸도다

그러나

이것도 행하고 저것도 버리지 말아야 할지니라

 
24   맹인 된 인도자여

하루살이는 걸러 내고 낙타는 삼키는도다

 
25   화 있을진저

외식하는 서기관들과 바리새인들이여

잔과 대접의 겉은 깨끗이 하되

그 안에는 탐욕과 방탕으로 가득하게 하는도다

26   눈 먼 바리새인이여

너는 먼저 안을 깨끗이 하라 그리하면 겉도 깨끗하리라

23   You Pharisees and teachers are show-offs,

and you're in for trouble! You give

God a tenth of the spices from your garden,

such as mint, dill, and cumin.

Yet you neglect the more important matters of the Law,

such as justice, mercy, and faithfulness.

These are the important things you should have done,

though you should not have left the others undone either.

24   You blind leaders! You strain out a small fly

but swallow a camel.

 
25   You Pharisees and teachers are show-offs,

and you're in for trouble! You wash the outside of your cups

and dishes, while inside there is nothing

but greed and selfishness.

 
26   You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of a cup,

and then the outside will also be clean.
